A Very Vaughn Christmas

I'm just going to be completely honest, here.  There were a LOT of pictures taken.  And a fair amount of videos.  And as Anna's mother, there really is no amount of watching videos of her slowly unwrapping presents that is too much.  It never gets boring for me.  However, I do understand that it probably does get boring for everyone else.  And I did try my darndest to edit the videos down, but she was just being SO DARN CUTE that I couldn't cut everything out and leave you with a 30-second clip.  So, the videos are kind-of long.  And probably pretty boring.  But I think they're fantastic.  As for the photos, there are 71 that I couldn't bear to leave out.  I am going to try my absolute best to not post all 71 of them here.  I'm not even sure blogspot would let me.  That being said, if you want to see the whole Christmas 2011 album that I've uploaded, click this link and enter the password vvchristmas.

Alright, on with the show!!

Christmas was amazing and amazingly short.  I'm always surprised at how quickly the actual festivities are over (and then always surprised at my subsequent depression... you'd think I'd learn), but this year the holiday was over in what seemed like an even quicker flash.  It was Anna's first Christmas, and we wanted it to be super special for her.  I think we succeeded.

Christmas Eve Eve (no, that's not a typo) we unwrapped presents from Thomas' parents.  It was Anna's first experience with unwrapping presents, so she was a little confused with what to do.  It was not, however, her first experience with being adorable -- she's pretty much got that down to a science.

Is it just me, or does she look incredibly wise in this picture?

Yay, presents from Grandma and Grandpa Vaughn!

This year we had the honor of hosting the family's annual Christmas Eve get-together.  Despite my lack of preparation, the night went off without a hitch (much of that credit belongs to the rest of the family that brought and prepared all of the food) and I think everyone had a good time.

I think most of these are for Anna (only semi-joking)

I think this one is going down in the history books...

Christmas Eve 2011 (Anna was sleeping)

Christmas morning started bright and early.  And by "bright and early" I mean before the sun even came up.  Anna woke around 5:30 and we decided to just call it rather than try to get her to go back to sleep.  I hadn't slept all night anyway, my brain wouldn't shut off, so I figured we might as well get up.

I did mention that I didn't get any sleep, right?  Because I didn't.  Don't judge.

Anna's presents from her Mama and Dada

My two favorite people

Later that morning we headed over to Dad and Elissa's for Christmas brunch.  Mmm, mimosa (Thomas had what he dubbed a "suicide-osa," which included orange and grape juice -- weirdo)...

I love this picture

Anna with her Grandpa

After an afternoon nap, we headed over to Mom's for Christmas dinner.  I don't know why I didn't think to have a picture of the three of us taken on Christmas Eve.  Now I'm stuck with THIS picture as the only one of the three of us on Anna's first Chritsmas:

I did mention that I didn't get any sleep the night before, right?  Because I didn't.  I blame that.

Then we headed home and it was time for Anna to go to bed.

Night-night!  Christmas was fun!

Well, there you have it.  Christmas in all its glory!  Those of you who made it through this entire post, I commend you.

  1. I made it through the whole post and enjoyed every picture. But I must admit I did not watch a single video. I'll save that for another sitting! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Elisabeth!
