(Splash) Pads & Pinterest

You know, I started out feeling really pleased with myself for the title I chose for this post.  But then it occurred to me that most people probably wouldn't get the (very remote) reference to Pride & Prejudice.  They'd probably think I was talking about feminine hygiene products.  And then I felt less pleased.  And then I thought it'd be better to just spell it out, just in case.

So, there you have it.

Aaaaanyway.  Last week, my friend from Hawaii was visiting and we decided to go on a splash pad play date!  Her son Luke is just around 14 months and an absolute doll.  Since I have a zoo membership we decided to try out the splash pad there.

Anna the Cougar and Luke the Ladies' Man (seriously, he even tried to hold her hand)

This was Anna's first public splash pad experience.  She'd been to the fantastic one at Casa del Williams for Moses' birthday party, which took a while for her to warm up to.  Thankfully, she had her friends there to help her get into it and she ended up enjoying herself immensely.  This... was a bit of a different story.

Anna enjoying... the ducks

Sadly, Anna was much too apprehensive of the fancy sprinklers and all of the unknown children running about.  She much preferred terrorizing unsuspecting ducks.  She also kept pointing at the lake, saying, "Water!  Down!" indicating that she wanted to go to the lake.

Not sure if she's trying to walk like a duck, or what

Alicia was far more successful than I at getting Anna interested in the water.

Alicia's attempt

And even that was met with only mild success.

This is seriously the closest she would get to the water.  Silly girl.

Well, despite the fact that Anna did no splashing at the splash pad (Luke made up for it, though.  What a little water baby!!), I think fun was had by all.  And then, it was time for our Cracker Barrel tradition.  Every time Alicia visits we eat lunch at Cracker Barrel.  Mmmmm, carbs.  We also had the pleasure of meeting up with our friend Kiri, who just had the sweetest little baby girl!

Stuffed and happy!

Now for the Pinterest portion of our post:

Last weekend, Mom and I teamed up to make Anna a bed skirt for her crib.  Her crib has been sadly lacking in proper attire ever since we got it, so it was high-time we changed that!  Well, we found a cute little skirt on Pinterest, and what do you know, we ACTUALLY MADE it.

YES.  I actually made something I saw on Pinterest.  I can now check that off my bucket list.

I'm going to be honest.  I'm brimming with pride as I post these pictures.  Now in the works is a matching rail guard.  You know, to hide the already-chewed-to-bits rails.  So, I guess it's less of a rail guard and more of a rail concealer.  Well, whatever works.

Fin.

  1. First, I'm so honored to be mentioned :-).
Second, Moses hated the splash pad the first time we went too.
Third, I LOVE the bed skirt. We need a crib concealer too!

  2. Whether she's watching the ducks, walking like one, or looking at the splash pad options, Anna is one cute sweetie in her darling little swimsuit! Oh, and we are a great team... that crib skirt rocks, if I do say so myself :)

  3. Way to go! I love completing a sewing project. It makes you feel so accomplished. And you should feel proud. You did a very, very nice job. Can't wait to see the rest.
