But it all seriousness, it wasn't too bad because I had my mom helping me. And by helping me, I mean mostly making it herself while I sat and "learned." She contests that it was 50/50, but we're not fooling anyone, here. BEHOLD! Anna, Grammy's Sugarplum:
Looking so very serious
Yes, this year Anna was a sugar plum for Halloween. Or rather, a plum with sugar on it (as a real sugar plum isn't nearly as cute). We celebrated Halloween by going to the Mesa Naz "Celebrate The Light" festival, and everyone thought Anna was an absolutely adorable... purple pumpkin. No, a purple grape. No wait, a purple rhinoceros. Yes, definitely! The only person we came across that correctly guessed that she was a plum was some random 7ish-year-old girl in line at the bouncy castle. "She's a plum, right??" I felt like hugging her. I'm glad I didn't, she probably would've run away yelling, "Stranger danger!" at that point...
Anyway, the story behind the choice of costume is pretty simple, really. My mom is always calling Anna her "sugarplum," and since she went as one of her nicknames for Halloween last year (Anna Banana), I thought I'd continue the trend. Plus, I figured this will be the last Halloween I have in which I get to pick her costume without her having an opinion one way or the other, so I better capitalize on it.
Grammy and her Sugarplum
Anna was not at all interested in stopping to pose for pictures. It was a little frustrating that she looked so darn cute, but wouldn't let me get any decent pictures of her!! Oh well. You get to see pictures of her being cute and uncooperative instead.
Trying to get her to stand next to Moses for a picture
Anna with Anna (a cat) and Grace (Belle) -- Anna's costume was Anna's favorite of the night! Yes, I realize that is a confusing sentence.
Couldn't get her to smile...
Attempt #2 with Moses... he was such a sweetie!!
Daddy huggles!

Not cooperating for the camera!
Anna's favorite activity of the night -- walking with Daddy
E and A²
Most of the night was spent walking around and watching everyone else play games or jump in the bounce houses. Anna did play a couple games, herself, though! And I got to reap the sweet, sweet candy benefits. The only thing Anna was really interested in was an enormous inflated slide/bouncy thing that was way too big for her. She was very disgruntled that we wouldn't let her go down a 30-foot slide by herself. But, that disappointment aside, she seemed to have loads of fun. I'd say it was another successful Halloween in the Vaughn household!
Happy Halloween from the Vaughns!
Cutest sugarplum ever
